Bio

My research aims to merge critical and public health theories to increase sexual and reproductive
health equity among marginalized populations. As a public health researcher and critical theorist,
I bring an ecological and historical lens to understand health inequities to develop and evaluation
public health programs. My contributions to public health research and practice are through
developing a comprehensive understanding of how the social ecology operates to produce sexual
and reproductive health inequities among marginalized populations. Furthermore, to use research
findings to inform policy and community- and individual-level interventions to optimize the
reproductive health and wellbeing of historically oppressed groups including Black and
Latina/o/x women and birthing people. My research to date has spanned various sexual,
reproductive, and maternal and child health issues across the reproductive-life span utilizing
quantitative and qualitative methodologies. I have over 30 publications (8 first-authored and 1
senior-authored publications) in leading public health, obstetrics, and pediatric journal outlets. I
was recently awarded a K01 focused on refining and piloting a racial equity training to improve
Black women and birthing people’s perinatal care experiences and outcomes.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
